DC Class Descriptions
* Need 4 Speed In this class individuals will convert kids toys into motorized dragsters. * Rock Band Teams will compete to create original musical instruments using unconventional items. The teams must create at least one stringed and one percussion instrument that can be played. * String Thing It’s a string thing. We're not trying to string you along. If this is the class for you, you will be challenged to see beyond just a spool of string. You will see what wonderful works of art you can create and discover interesting science experiments. Use your imagination and some string. It’s your ideas against your friends. * Blowin’ in the Wind Teams tap into their inner artists as they compete to design and build wind-powered kinetic art from recycled materials. * Big Bugs Get back to nature as teams sculpt large scale insects from natural materials. * Ace of Cakes Do you love to bake cake? If so, in this class you will compete against another class to design the most amazing cake! Be inspired and use your creativity! * Building Big Attention architects! In this class you will design a miniature city and an amusement park using a variety of materials. * Got Game? Are you board? Individuals will work collaboratively to create an original board game. We will have a game day to play the games you designed. * Aquatic Robots Teams must create radio-controlled robots that can survive and thrive in the water. We will test them out on our pond! * Dished We hope you like the ingredients you’re dished! As you compete against another class to make the best dish using three secret ingredients. * Over the Moon Compete to design and an air-powered rocket that can hit a distant target. * Confetti Launcher Individuals compete to see who can create the best confetti launcher that launches confetti the highest and furthest. * Mystery Theatre This year we will work together and create our own musical. This year’s musical cast will collaboratively write the script and lyrics to a musical we will be performing on August 7. This class will take much dedication and the duration of the class will be the entire summer! If you cannot attend on August 7th please do not enroll in this class. * Heavy Lifting Teams will compete to design and build a cardboard crane that can lift the heaviest load. * Band Power In this class you will design and build a two-wheeled car and a boat. Both of these must be powered by a rubber band. * Float Your Boat Do you think this class will float your boat? If so you will be challenge to build an unsinkable boat out of straws and plastic wrap. * Trash 2 Treasure (Reduce Reuse Recycle) Is garbage appealing to you? If so this is the class for you. In this class we will be all about using trash to create art using the technique of mixed media. * Treasure Hunters RRR.. you ready for this? This year classes will create the ultimate treasure hunt! The morning and afternoon classes will compete against each other to create the most cunning clues and then challenge the other class to find their hidden treasure. * Set Design In this class you will partner with the Mystery Musical class to create and design the sets for the night of the musical. * Costume Design In this class you will be responsible for designing and making all of the costumes for the musical. You will work hand in hand with the musical class. * Project Runway Teams will compete to see who can design the best dual-purpose clothing using various types of materials. Join DC on the runway as the garments make their fashion debut on August 7th along with the musical. * Iron Chef In this class the morning class will compete against the afternoon class to make the best tasting dish. It will be judged using the criteria of the most creative, best presented, and tastiest dish. The class that wins will be given the title of DC Top Chef. * Catch Me if You Can This year fishing will be the ultimate challenge. In this class you will be given supplies to design and create your own fishing rod and bait. Come up with an original design and challenge your friends. |
